Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon marked the start of 2014, the year in which Scotland will decide its future in a referendum on independence, with a keynote speech at St Andrews University.

I honestly can’t recall ever having warmed to any politician as much as I have warmed to Nicola Sturgeon. She’s the jewel in the SNP crown…fiercely passionate, highly articulate and seemingly unflappable. She speaks positively and passionately of her dream of Scottish self-determination. She’s a real inspiration!
