I fear there is an atmosphere being created in the media bubble which could have unforeseen consequences. The calculated smearing of Wings Over Scotland for example has developed into a witch-hunt, an idea given force by the reported attempt of Mike Dailly to compose a list of supporters for use by the mainstream media…whatever that means.

The Wee Ginger Dug blog has rapidly become a favourite amongst independence supporters for its biting humour and snappy wit.  Updated almost daily, the blog provides an entertaining lift when the dream of Scottish independence comes under sustained attack from the negativity of the No campaign.

Paul Kavanagh, the ghost writer for the independence campaign’s favourite Valencian mongrel, is also a long standing friend of Newsnet Scotland.

This Sunday, 22nd of June, the Radical Independence Campaign will hold a National Mass Canvass event.

Over 40 events will take place all across Scotland with the intention of speaking to as many people as possible and raise awareness of the benefits and possibilities a Yes vote can bring to Scotland, with the specific aim of reaching as many undecided voters as possible.

W1A was the comedy based on the BBC in London. My old chums at BBC Scotland are clearly going for their own version – PQ – having screwed up their radio schedules to drop – yet another – popular programme and then replacing it by offering a contract to someone entirely unsuitable and then dropping her too.

That looks to me like making a big mistake first and then wheedling a way out. If this was Kezia’s idea to pull out, it doesn’t sound as if the BBC made herculean efforts to retain her. Put another way, it implies they’re happy to wash their hands of her, after realising too late that there’s, there’s…an election on.

The furious imbroglios which have recently erupted in the independence debate certainly indicate one thing: Scots actually matter for once to Westminster and the foreign-owned and London-based media. Before, they could completely ignore and revile Scots, because they were completely irrelevant to them.

Now, they are plying their vile trade in Scotland by remote control from London. Don’t expect the ‘scandals’ and the ridiculing of Scottish national pride to let up before the referendum. Just tune them out, and keep on keeping on. No biggie.
